GRIDUP - Energy for Life Hackathon
I worked with a team on a challenge involving anomaly detection in electrical distribution equipment.
The idea was to investigate how sensor measurements could help identify potential problems in transformer substations and electrical panels. We looked at signals such as temperature, current, and partial discharge, and how to collect and process those measurements.
My background is primarily in software, so working on a problem that involved electrical engineering, sensors, and industrial communication protocols was a different experience.
One particularly interesting part was learning how Modbus fits into industrial monitoring systems and how hardware measurements can be made available to software for further analysis.
It was a good opportunity to work across disciplines and tackle a problem outside my usual area.
